SEO + GEO in mechanical engineering: A real opportunity

In mechanical engineering, the biggest challenge is that potential customers are not searching for simple product names, but for specific applications, processes, and contexts of use. This is exactly where SEO and GEO come in: these strategies make machines and niche solutions that require explanation visible to buyers, even if no specific supplier is known yet. At the same time, they open up the opportunity to have an international presence by preparing content in multiple languages and contexts in such a way that it can be found and understood in both traditional search engines and AI systems.

This approach is ideal for companies like our client Spark Maschinery. The Italian manufacturer of perforating machines came to us with the challenge of establishing international visibility in English. Our SEO/GEO strategy focuses on the surrounding European countries, as well as Canada and Central America.

Initial situation: Where Spark Machinery stood in 2025

We began working with Spark Machinery in mid-2025. At the start of the project, Spark Machinery’s website was available exclusively in Italian, even though around 70 to 80 percent of potential customers were searching for solutions online in English. At the same time, the company offers highly specialized perforating machines for a very narrow industrial niche. This combination meant that the offering was technically strong, but digitally it was only exploiting a fraction of its actual market potential.

The challenge of properly addressing the niche target group for perforation machine technology

The central challenge was that potential customers were not only searching specifically for perforation machines, but above all for applications, processes, and industry solutions. Search queries often relate to topics such as micro and macro perforation, as well as specific areas of application, such as food packaging for salad or berry packaging made of plastic, or in the agricultural sector for field and greenhouse films. For Spark Machinery, this meant not only making machines visible, but also digitally mapping the underlying process knowledge in a targeted manner.

Starting values for online visibility

At the start of the project, organic website traffic was in the low double digits per month. General visibility in search engines was correspondingly low. Rankings existed almost exclusively for brand terms and proprietary product names in the Italian market. For English-language, non-branded keywords, Spark Machinery was virtually invisible at that time.

Our strategy: Industrial SEO for complex niche products

During our topic research, we compiled 50 relevant keyword sets for Spark Machinery. These were used to derive the international SEO/GEO strategy.

Content- & Competition Analysis

After Spark Machinery prioritized the keyword sets, the operational SEO work began. We conduct four topic analyses each month.

SEO-Briefings + Page-Planning

Based on the topic analyses, we create and prepare four SEO/GEO briefings every month. These contain specific recommendations for action to ensure perfect texts.

SEO-Content writing

Spark Machinery's marketing and product department is responsible for creating the texts in multiple languages based on our recommendations, such as heading structures and content elements.

Embed, Publish, Index

Spark Machinery also handles the final embedding. We then take care of the final acceptance. We also check the correct HTML structure and indexing of the new content.

Linkbuilding & Digital PR

In 2026, we want to strengthen brand awareness through targeted off-page measures. Through GEO measures, we are preparing customers for AI search models.

After just six months of intensive SEO work, we were able to achieve significant progress together with the client. Organic website traffic increased by over 100 percent, while overall visibility on Google increased by 33 percent. At the same time, Spark Machinery achieved more than 20 new top 10 rankings for highly relevant, non-branded keywords in the English-speaking market. This laid the foundation for sustainable international visibility in the field of perforating machines.

Personal collaboration: Visit to the K-Messe 2025 trade fair in Düsseldorf

In October 2025, Spark Machinery invited us to the K trade fair in Düsseldorf. We visited their booth, got to know the team, took a detailed look at the perforating machines, and gained deep insights into applications, target markets, and customer requirements. The personal exchanges at the trade fair further deepened our personal cooperation and form an important basis for the strategic development of Spark Machinery’s digital visibility.

Spark Machinery’s product portfolio covers a range of perforation technologies. In the field of microperforation, processes such as hot needling are used, while macroperforation can be adapted to customer requirements with a high degree of flexibility thanks to individually configurable side units. Laser perforation machines represent the premium segment and are the most cost-intensive solution in the portfolio due to their precision and technology.
